The place is warm and cosy. The room was clean and comfortable. Shower pressure was excellent. We specifically asked for a room with a balcony and that is what we got.

Located in Guarda, 5.6 km from Guarda Castle, Quinta do Rio Noémi provides accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. Beautiful boutique hotel with a character in a quiet green area. Rooms are nicely designed and very clean. Cosy common area with a fireplace downstairs. The host is extremely friendly and accommodating. Tasty breakfast with locally produced ingredients. Definitely have to follow host’s advice for dinner place - very local simple place with small menu but food food so delicious and fresh!

Just a 5-minute drive away from the city of Gouveia, in the slopes of Serra da Estrela Mountain, Madre De Água Hotel Rural de Charme is located in a producing wine, cheese and olive oil farm. The hotel provides an incredible experience of the Portuguese countryside, offering a serene environment away from the noise and busy roads. We thoroughly enjoyed the delightful dinner, which included delicious local wine. The rooms were clean, spacious, and adorned with beautiful views, adding to the overall charm of our stay.

Casas da Lapa is a modern hotel ideally situated on a hill top, inside the Natural Park of Serra da Estrela. It is located within a typical mountain village, Lapa dos Dinheiros. Everything. Extremely friendly staff, exquisite facilities all very relaxing and zen. loved every second of it. There are no words to describe how great it all was. The interior is absolutely marvellous, with a cinema room, library and a living room, so cozy and beautiful. And having the pool and sauna for ourselves (as you had to book it so it’s private) was just amazing. Would totally recommend for an absolute break from everything, forget about team calls and deadlines. The location is also very nice, although quite narrow streets to drive so not for the faint hearted. 30min drive up in the mountains and you have amazing views and walks. Would also recommend to stay in for dinner - the menu was really good (perhaps the main could still be improved a bit), but overall good value and they easily accommodated for a vegetarian diet.

Very unique and pleasant design, lot of attention was given to all details. Wood work done to the highest level. The team were very very supportive. It felt like a family run place. Raphael was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Food was unbelievably good, all fresh ingredients and served beautifully. We stayed 3 night each dinner was different and tasty.

Located in Lajeosa do Mondego, municipality of Celorico da Beira – the Serra Cheese capital – Casas do Durão-Memories House is set at the base of the Estrela Ridge and offers a tranquil stay. Wunderfully decorated and clean house. The hosts were really welcoming and gave us a tour through their house of memories, that we will remember. Breakfast was a dream!

Hotel da Vila features free WiFi throughout the property and views of mountain in Manteigas. Each accommodation at the 2-star hotel has city views, and guests can enjoy access to a terrace. This hotel is one which has been recently built or renovated next door to a restaurant and the tourist information centre on the way into the centre on a split level site. Our room was located downstairs from the main entrance and was located away from the main road with a view of the valley. There was free parking adjacent to the property. Breakfast was a good continental buffet which included a number of local cheeses, server three floors down in a room with a view of the lower valley. There was a selection of restaurants at various price points within a short distance of the hotel in addition to the more up market one next door (we tried The central for cheaper local food). The tourist information centre next door is worth a visit to get free walking route maps (using the European coloured flash way markers) in various languages distributed by a very helpful gentleman. There are a couple of supermarkets and bakery for picnic food.
